WACO – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team fell to the No. 18 Baylor University Bears 0-7 on Saturday at Hurd Tennis Center.
 
The Bears (4-1) got off to a quick start winning at No. 3 and No. 1 doubles to clinch the point. The Broncs (1-5) had a chance to win one of the matches, as Chetan Panditi and Ricardo Hopker had a 6-5 lead over Mate Zsiga and Robbie Korth at No. 2 when the doubles point was decided.
 
The Bears won all six singles matches in straight sets, with the closest set coming at No. 6, where Victor Alves was tied with Robert Verzall 4-4 in the first set before falling 4-6. Verzaal took the second set 6-1 to earn the point.
 
The Broncs return home for a day-night doubleheader on Friday, March 1, as they host the University of the Southwest at 10:00 a.m. and the No. 44 ranked team in Division II, St. Mary's University, at 4:00 p.m. at the newly renovated Orville Cox Tennis Center. In between matches, the UTPA women's tennis team will face No. 18 St. Mary's.
