CHICAGO, Illinois – The third-seeded University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's basketball team fell to the second-seeded New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders 52-42 on Friday at Jones Convocation Center, on the campus of Chicago State University.
KaeLynn Boyd led the Broncs (12-16) with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Bianca Torre scored three points with one assist and two steals. Torre finishes her career as the Broncs' all-time leader in points (1,439), assists (393), steals (226), free throws made (277) and field goals attempted (1,250). She also ranks second in field goals made (461), three-pointers made (240), three-pointers attempted (677) and three throw percentage (.780), third in free throws attempted (355), and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.355).
Sarah Olson led the Highlanders (15-15) with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-9 from behind the arc, with five steals.
Kimberly Dweck scored 11 points with three assists and two steals.
Rayven Johnson came close to a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.
After trading baskets early, Johnson scored six points to power a 16-2 Highlanders run that made it 21-6 with 11:13 remaining in the first half.
Joyea Marshall broke the run with a jumper at the 8:30 mark.
The Broncs went on their run over the final 5:48 of the half. A Boyd free throw was her first of eight points during a 14-2 run that saw the Broncs pull within 28-23 at the half. The run was capped by an own basket by the Highlanders. After Boyd missed a three, Olson rebounded the ball and tossed it back in the basket just before the buzzer sounded. The basket was credited to

The Highlanders scored the first six points of the second half to go up 34-24 on a Dweck jumper with 16:19 remaining.
The Broncs got back within five twice, first at 36-31 on a
Franchesca Simon layup with 10:18 to go, and then again at 39-34 on a
Jasmine Thompson three-pointer with 9:27 left, but that's as close as they got.
