EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team beat the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals, the No. 19 ranked team in Division II, 7-0 on Saturday at the newly renovated Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
The Broncs (5-11) jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point as Ricardo Hopker and Chetan Panditi beat Nick Mikulcic and Brandon Davis 8-3 at No. 2 and Thomas-Orestis Panoulas and Victor Alves defeated Luke Trautmann and Tucker Brown 8-4 at No. 3.
 
The Broncs clinched the match in short order, as Alves pulled off a double bagel over Trautmann at No. 6, Panditi beat Mikulcic 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, and Sebastien Job dispatched of Aidan DeLeon 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5.
 
The Cardinals (10-4) picked up their lone set victory at No. 1, where Leo Ivic took the first set from Panoulas 6-2, but Panoulas came back to win the second set 6-4 and the super tiebreaker 10-8.
 
The Broncs took the remaining matches in straight sets.
 
The Broncs are right back in action at 2:30 p.m. when they host Prairie View A&M at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
