FORT WORTH – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team fell to the No. 36 Texas Christian University Horned Frogs 1-6 on Saturday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
 
The Broncs (6-13) picked up their lone point at No. 5 singles, where Victor Alves took the first set from Will Stein 6-3, and then after dropping the second set in a tiebreaker 6-7, came back to win the super tiebreaker 11-9.
 
The Horned Frogs (15-5) boasted two ranked singles players and one ranked doubles duo.
 
The team of No. 79 Nick Chappell and Stein beat Felix Hasselberg and Sebastien Job 8-1 at No. 1. The Broncs played a competitive match at No. 3, but Thomas-Orestis Panoulas and Alves were trailing Rodolfo Bustamante and Blake Wiggins 5-6 when the doubles point was clinched.
 
In singles, Panoulas fell to No. 103 Arnau Dachs 3-6, 1-6 at No. 1 while Ricardo Hopker dropped the No. 2 match to No. 119 Facundo Lugones 0-6, 4-6.
 
The Horned Frogs took the other three singles matches in straight sets.
 
The Broncs resume Southland Conference play on Monday at 11:00 a.m. when they face Oral Roberts at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
