FORT WORTH – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis picked up their first Southland Conference win of the season, 5-2 over the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles on Monday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU.
 
The Broncs (7-13, 1-2 Southland) got off to a strong start by taking the doubles point as the No. 2 duo of Chetan Panditi and Ricardo Hopker beat Parker Allen and Nathaniel Avery 9-8 while the No. 3 team of Victor Alves and Thomas-Orestis Panoulas defeated Braxton Bates and Gabriel Kanelopoulos 8-2.
 
Hopker, Panditi and Alves all picked up singles wins as well, as Hopker defeated Jason Mechali 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, Panditi beat Allen 6-2, 7-6 at No. 3, and Alves downed Avery 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.
 
The Broncs also scored a win at No. 6, where Felix Hasselberg beat Gabriel Kanelopoulos 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
 
The Golden Eagles (2-13, 0-4 Southland) got their points at No. 1 and No. 5 singles.
 
The Broncs return to the Orville Cox Tennis Center for their final home match of the season on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
