Baseball Falls at TCU

FORT WORTH – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball was three-hit in a 10-0 loss to the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs on Wednesday at Lupton Field.
 
The Broncs' (9-14) hits all came from left-handed batters: Derek Hagy, Will Klausing and Alex Howe. Only two of the hits came against Horned Frogs (13-16) starter Stefan Crichton (2-2), who pitched six scoreless innings, striking out five and walking two.
 
Colby McCasland (0-1) pitched well in his first start of the season, striking out four while allowing one run on one hit and one walk in two innings.
 
Matt Daniels took over on the mound in the third, and that's when the Horned Frogs sent 10 men to the plate while scoring six runs on five hits and two walks. The first run scored on a groundout that left a runner at second with two outs. After Paul Hendrix drew a four-pitch walk, a balk put both runners in scoring position, setting up an Derek Odell two-run single. Kevin Cron followed with a two-run home run. Dylan Fitzgerald then reached on an infield-single, stole second and scored on an RBI-single by Cody Jones to cap the inning with the score 7-0.
 
Hendrix was the only player with multiple hits, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored.
 
The Broncs open up Great West Conference play with the first of four against the New York Institute of Technology on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
