EDINBURG – Riley Goulding extended his hitting streak to 14 games, but the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team fell to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 4-2 in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
 
Goulding went 1-for-4 with an RBI-double in the third inning that scored Shane Klemcke and gave the Broncs (22-19) a 1-0 lead.
 
Goulding is now 19-for-43 (.442) during the streak.
 
The Islanders (25-19) tied the game in the top of the fifth when Stafford Brantley hit a one-out single, stole second and scored on an RBI-single by Kyle Danford.
 
The Broncs jumped back ahead in the seventh. Alberto Morales led off the inning with a single. Edinburg alum Alberto Morales pinch-ran, moved to second on a single by Chris Torres and to third on a sacrifice bunt by Klemcke. Derek Hagy followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1.
 
Preston Budziszewski (1-2) came in for the Islanders and put two on with two out for Jordan Lee, who lifted a 2-2 pitch down the right field line and off the foul pole for his first home run of the season to make it 4-2.
 
That made a winner of Seth Horton (1-0), who pitched 1.2 innings of one-hit relief, striking out two.
 
Jacob Dorris pitched a scoreless ninth for his 10^th save.
 
Dusten Knight started for the Broncs and pitched two hitless innings. Matt Daniels pitched the next two innings and retired six of the seven batters he faced.
