EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team picked up their first win of the season after defeating the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles 4-3 on Saturday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
The Broncs (1-2) grabbed control early in doubles as the team of Chetan Panditi and Juan Cruz Soria defeated the Oral Roberts' duo of Braxton Bates and Michael Sosnowski 6-2. UTPA then took the doubles point when the team of Alejandro Sanoja and Sebastien Job beat Fabian Zierleyn and Jason Mechali 6-3.
 
In singles, Panditi got things started for the Broncs as he defeated Machali 6-1, 6-1. Sanoja followed with victory after defeating Cole Guy 6-1, 6-5. The Golden Eagles (0-4) got on the board in the No. 4, 5 and 2 singles but put the match away in the No. 1 singles spot. After Soria dropped the first set 5-6, he bounced back with a 6-4 win in the second set and then clinched the match for the Broncs with a 6-0 win in the tiebreaking set.
 
The Broncs are back in action at 3 p.m. when they host Prairie View A&M for their second match of the day.
