ARLINGTON – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team fell 1-6 to the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks on Friday at the UTA Tennis Center.

The Broncs (2-8) got their lone doubles win at No. 1 doubles as the team of Ricardo Hopker and Chetan Panditi defeated Javier Perez and Carlos Arbiza 8-6 but the Mavericks (4-4) won at No. 2 and 3 doubles to clinch the point.

In singles, Panditi provided the lone point for the Broncs as he defeated Arbiza in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. After dropping the first set 3-6, Alejandro Sanoja took the second set 6-2 from Sebastian Erimicioiu at No. 4 singles but fell 2-6 in the third. Joseph Bishop also took his match at No. 5 singles to three sets. He dropped the first set 2-6 to Mario Muniesa and then took the second 6-3 before dropping the third set 0-6.

The Broncs are back in action on Feb. 28 when they return home to host Grand Canyon at 1 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
