COLLEGE STATION – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team dropped the series finale 6-2 to the No. 25 Texas A&M University Aggies on Wednesday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies (12-5) got the scoring started in the bottom of the first against starter
Matt Daniels. Patrick McLendon got aboard with a one-out triple and then came across to score on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Mitchell Nau delivered an RBI single that allowed Hunter Melton to score making it 2-0.
An RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Logan Taylor in the bottom of the third allowed Melton to score pushing the Aggies' lead to 3-0.
The Broncs (9-8) got on the board in the top of the sixth inning. Senior
Alberto Morales led off with a walk and then seniors
Dillon Engelhart and
Shane Ammon followed with a pair of singles. Senior
Brandon Roush drove in Morales from third with an RBI fielder's choice and then Englehart later came in to score on a wild put that cut the Aggies' lead to 3-2.
The Aggies put up three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
Daniels (0-2) took the loss as he allowed just those three runs in three innings of work while scattering six hits.
Andrew Vinson (1-1) picked up the win after pitching an inning and a third while not allowing any runs.
The Broncs continue their five-game road trip, as they face the No. 15 Oklahoma State University Cowboys on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
