STILLWATER, Okla.
– Senior right-hander Sam Street led the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team past the No. 15 Oklahoma State University Cowboys, 3-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Due to rain in the forecast for Saturday, the schedule for the three-game series was altered to play a doubleheader on Friday and the series finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Street (5-0) picked up the win after pitching eight and two-third innings while allowing just one run on eight hits with four strikeouts.

The Broncs (10-9) gave Street the lead in the top of the first. With two outs, sophomore PSJA alum Bryan Ramirez reached on a single up the middle and then senior Alberto Morales hit an RBI double that allowed Ramirez to score making it 1-0.

In the top of the second inning, the Broncs took advantage of a couple of errors by the Cowboys (12-6). A fielding error allowed junior Michael Baca to reach and then a throwing error moved him to third base. Sophomore Jacob Huckabay then drove in Baca from third with an RBI sacrifice bunt that added to the Broncs' lead 2-0.

Senior Dillon Engelhart made it 3-0 in the top of the fourth with a two-out solo homerun off of Cowboys' starter Tyler Nurdin (1-2).

The Cowboys got a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice bunt by Craig McConaughy cutting into the Broncs' lead 3-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Cowboys loaded the bases to knock Street out of the game but senior Matthew Harrell came on to record the final out picking up his first save of the season.
