Men's Tennis Drops Match to UTSA

SAN ANTONIO – Sophomore Joseph Bishop picked up a victory at No. 5 singles to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis on Saturday but they fell 1-6 to the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
Bishop defeated UTSA's Kolby Kilgo 6-4, 1-6, 10-4 picking up the lone point for the Broncs (3-13). The Roadrunners (7-11) won the rest of the singles matches to close out the match. Juan Cruz Soria dropped his first set 6-3 but bounced back with a 6-4 second set victory before falling 10-3 in the tiebreaker.
 
Alejandro Sanoja also took his match to the tiebreaker against Diogo Casa. Sanoja dropped the first set 7-5 and then came back with a 6-3 win in the second set before falling 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
 
The Roadrunners swept through doubles to take the early lead as the team of Tomas Stillman and Joel Rubio defeated Ricardo Hopker and Chetan Panditi 8-3. Yannick Junger and Bob Kamiljanov then beat Alejandro Sanoja and Juan Cruz Soria at No. 2 doubles 8-4.
 
The Broncs are back in action on March 28 when they face the University of New Orleans at 2 p.m.
