Box Score

FORT WORTH – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team opened up a five-game road trip with an 11-0 loss to the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs on Tuesday at Lupton Field.

Senior Broncs (11-16) starter Kyle Tokunaga (1-3) got off to a good start, holding the Horned Frogs (14-10) to two runs through the first four innings.

In the fifth, however, the Horned Frogs loaded the bases with nobody out. Dylan Fitzgerald followed with a triple to knock out Tokunaga. Senior Matthew Harrell came in and got a pop-out and an infield-lineout, but White hit an RBI-infield single and Jeremie Fagnan hit an RBI-double to make it 7-0.

The Horned Frogs loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth as well, this time against junior Clayton Haltom. Fitzgerald walked to force-in a run and knock out Haltom. Freshman Tanner Dickerson came in and gave up an RBI-ground out to Kevin Cron and a two-run single to Derek Odell that made it 11-0.

That made a winner of Jordan Kipper (2-2), who pitched five shutout innings, scattering four hits and two walks

Junior Jesus Garcia led the Broncs offensively by going 2-for-4.

The Broncs and Horned Frogs complete this two-game series on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
