NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team fell 3-4 by the University of New Orleans Privateers in a four-hour match on Saturday at the University Tennis Center.
The Broncs (3-14) took the early advantage in doubles as the team of
Ricardo Hopker and
Chetan Panditi picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. After the Privateers (5-6) won at No. 2 doubles, the duo of
Mauricio Fosado and
Joseph Bishop clinched the point for the Broncs with an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Hopker kept things rolling with a win at No. 3 singles as he defeated Gonzalo Garcia 6-2, 6-4.
Alejandro Sanoja then went on to defeat Luis Albuquerque 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 at No. 4 singles but the Privateers won the rest of the singles matches to clinch the match.
The Broncs are back in action on Sunday at 10 a.m. when they face the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
