PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's basketball fell to the Grand Canyon University Antelopes 77-55 on Saturday at Antelope Gymnasium.
 
Junior Brittany Bush led Broncs (14-15, 8-8 WAC) with her sixth double-double of the season after scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds. Freshman Shawnte' Goff, sophomore KaeLynn Boyd and junior Jasmine Thompson scored 11 points each. Thompson also had seven rebounds.
 
Deanna Daniels led the Antelopes (21-8, 10-6 WAC) with 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting, plus 7-of-9 from the line. Justine Johnson scored 17 points while hitting five three-pointers.
 
Bush and Boyd each hit a pair of early baskets as the Broncs led 10-7 in the opening minutes.
 
The Antelopes, however, responded by scoring the next 13 points, eight of which came from Daniels, as part of a 16-2 run over an eight minute span to go up 23-12 with 9:10 remaining in the first half.
 
The Broncs climbed within 27-21 on a three-pointer by senior captain LaQuita Garner three minutes later, but Johnson hit three-straight three-pointers to spark a 24-10 run as the Antelopes went up 51-31 early in the second half.
 
Boyd used a layup and a three-pointer to bookend a 14-6 run as the Broncs pulled within 12 at 57-45 at the 12:16 mark, but that's as close as they got.
 
The Broncs open the WAC Tournament as the number four seed in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
