Shane Ammon gave the Broncs the lead with an RBI-single.
After the Antelopes (15-14, 5-3 WAC) tied the game in the top of the sixth, Howe came up with a two-out RBI-triple in the bottom of the inning against reliever
Malcom Purdy (1-2) to give the Broncs a 7-6 lead.
That made a winner of junior
Blake English (2-2), who pitched six innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits and two walks while striking out two.
Freshman Nikki Rowe alum
Andrew Padron pitched three scoreless innings for his second save.
The Broncs and Antelopes complete this three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Any fan that brings four non-perishable food items will receive a free ticket as part of the Broncs' partnership with the RGV Food Bank known as "Strike Out Hunger." Gates open at 12.
