Box ScoreLAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball team fell to the New Mexico State University Aggies 80-60 on Saturday at the Pan American Center.
Senior
Brittany Bush led the Broncs (16-13, 8-5 WAC) with her fourth double-double of the season and 10
th of her career, scoring 15 points with 12 rebounds. Bush now has 421 career rebounds, passing
Cheveron Terry (411, 1997-01) for ninth most in program history. Senior
Tonisha Walker also reached double-figures, scoring 13 points.
Brianna Freeman led the Aggies (19-7, 12-1 WAC) with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Sasha Weber scored 20 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Shanice Davis scored 17 points with seven rebounds and five steals.
Tamera William and
Abby Scott scored 10 points each.
The Aggies jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but Bush hit three baskets as the Broncs pulled within 11-6.
William and Davis responded with back-to-back threes, but Walker hit a three of her own to bring the Broncs within 17-9.
After the Aggies pushed their lead out to 10 at 19-9, the Broncs went on a 9-2 run to pull within 21-18 on a Bush jumper.
The Broncs were still within three at 32-29 after a Bush free throw with 3:57 remaining in the first half, but the Aggies outscored the Broncs 20-11 over the next nine and a half minutes to push their lead into double-figures at 52-40 on a Weber three. Senior
Cha'zaye Wright nailed a three to get the Broncs back within nine, but the Aggies responded with a 13-3 to push the game out of reach.
The Broncs close out the regular season on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they visit Kansas City.
