COLLEGE STATION – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team became the first team to force extra innings this season against the No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies but could not hold off a late rally as they lost 4-3 in 11 innings on Tuesday at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
 
The Broncs (8-5) led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning but the Aggies (18-0) rallied with RBI doubles from Logan Taylor and G.R. Hinsley before tying the game on an RBI single by Blake Allemand.
 
In the 11^th inning, the Aggies loaded the bases to set up the Ronnie Gideon's walked-off RBI sacrifice fly that allowed Nick Banks to score the game-winning run.
 
Corbin Martin (1-0) earned the win after pitching a scoreless top of the 11^th inning after allowing just one hit. Andrew Padron took the loss (1-1) after pitching five and a third innings and allowing four runs, three earned, while striking out four.
 
The Broncs took the early lead in the top of the second against Brigham Hill. Scott Mercer reached on an error then moved to third after a single by Correy Davis. After Mercer was tagged out at the plate on a fielder's choice, Cole Loncar came through with a two-out RBI single that scored Davis from second giving the Broncs the 1-0 lead.
 
In the top of the fifth, the Broncs added to their lead. With one out in the inning, Logan Landon walked and then moved to second on a ground out by Jacob Huckabay. Victor Garcia Jr. followed with a two-out RBI single to center field that scored Landon from second base making it 2-0.
 
Davis started another rally in the top of the sixth as he reached with a one-out infield single. Alexis Hernandez followed with single to right field and then an error loaded the bases for Manny Laredo, who hit an RBI single through the right side scoring Davis from third and extending the Broncs' lead to 3-0.
 
Davis went 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Landon recorded his seventh multi-hit game of the season after going 2-for-4 with a run scored.  
 
The Broncs return home to host Arlington Baptist in a three-games series that starts Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m.
