DALLAS – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team fell to the No. 67 Southern Methodist University Mustangs 0-7 on Friday at the SMU Tennis Complex.
The Broncs (2-6) played their doubles matches close but fell 6-4 on courts one and two giving the doubles point to the Mustangs (12-2). The match on court three went unfinished but was tied at five when the doubles point was clinched.
"We pushed a very good doubles team deep into the sets," Broncs head coach
Brandon Stokes said. "They made more plays at the end of each set to win. Our energy was terrific for doubles. We will do a better job tomorrow carrying that over into the starts of singles matches. We will sustain it better."
The Mustangs continued their momentum, as they swept through singles matches in straight sets. The closest set came at No. 6 singles, where freshman
Ethan Ammon dropped his first set 6-1 to Julio Olaya but forced a tiebreaker in the second set before falling 7-6.
The Broncs are back in action on Saturday when they head to Abilene to face off against the Abilene Christian Wildcats.
