Alex Henson had a career-high nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team past the Utah Valley University Wolverines 5-4 on Thursday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
In his longest start of the season, Henson (3-1) cruised, scattering five singles and five walks. Three of those walks were on 3-2 pitches at the end of seven-pitch at-bats, two of which were at the start of the game. Henson responded with a strikeout and a fly out before

Greyson Bogden hit RBI-singles to give the Wolverines (17-32, 13-12 WAC) a 2-0 lead.
Henson retired the next five batters he faced. He struck out eight and induced six ground balls the rest of the way. Four of Henson's strikeouts were looking.
The Broncs (20-29-1, 5-19-1 WAC) tied the game in the bottom of the second. With runners at second and third and nobody out, junior
Scott Mercer hit a grounder to second that rolled up on
Zac Fuller's arm as a run scored. Later in the inning, junior
Cole Loncar drew a bases-loaded walk.
The Broncs took the lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Loncar against
Jake Mayer (1-7).
In the fifth, the Broncs went up 5-2 on a squeeze by Mercer and an RBI-single by senior
Logan Landon.
After Henson's final strikeout at the start of the seventh,
Kade Andrus drew a six-pitch walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by
Mark Krueger.
Freshman Nikki Rowe alum
Ryan Jackson came in and struck out three while allowing a run on two hits in 1.2 innings.

Johnny Gonzalez pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save.
The Broncs play their penultimate game of the season on Friday at 6 p.m. against the Wolverines. Gates open at 5.
