Box ScoreGRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team closed out is three-game series at the University North Dakota (UND) with a 4-3 win in 10 innings on Sunday at Kraft Memorial Field.
It's the Broncs' (18-27-1, 3-17-1 WAC) first extra innings win in five tries this season.
With the game tied 3-3 in the 10
th,
Jeff Campbell (1-3) plunked junior
Cole Loncar, setting up the go-ahead double by junior
Correy Davis.
Davis finished 3-for-5, marking his sixth game of three or more hits this season.
That made a winner of freshman
Johnny Gonzalez (2-1), who pitched the final inning and a third, striking out two.
UND (18-22, 12-9 WAC) scored without the benefit of a hit against senior
Blake English in the first, as, after a walk and a hit batsman gave them two on with nobody out, the runners attempted a double-steal. The throw to third got away, allowing a run to score to make it 1-0.
The Broncs responded immediately against
Alex Twenge as, with the bases loaded and one out, freshman McAllen Memorial alum
Manny Loredo hit a two-run double to make it 2-1.
UND tied the game in the fourth on a two-out RBI-single by
Ellery Bresnahan.
That's where the score stayed until the seventh, when, with two outs, senior
Logan Landon doubled to left to score junior Sharyland alum
Alexis Hernandez from second and give the Broncs a 3-2 lead.
UND tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a two-out RBI-single by Campbell.
The Broncs are back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. when they open a three-game series at New Mexico State.
