Box Score

CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's soccer team closed out a weekend road trip with a 2-2 double overtime tie against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday at Dugan Soccer Stadium.

The Vaqueros (1-2-2) got on the board in the first five minutes when sophomore Andreya Barrera sent a low cross to the right side so freshman Malia Irvine could score her first-career goal.

The Islanders (0-4-1) tied the match four minutes into the second half when Nanna Poulsen sent a swinging cross to Yvette Franco who struck from the top of the box.

Franco scored again 21 minutes later when, on a breakaway, she cut back past her defender to score from six yards out after a pass from Hannah Joseph.

The Vaqueros tied the match with three and a half minutes left in regulation when Meghan Oram notched her first-career goal to send the match to overtime.
