CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team fell 1-6 to the No. 61 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
 
The Islanders (5-0) got out in front in doubles competition with a win on court two and then clinched the point with a win on court one.
 
In singles, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won on courts six, one, two and five to clinch the match. The Vaqueros (1-1) got on the board as sophomore Ethan Ammon recorded a victory over Guillaume Rauseo. Ammon opened his match with a 6-3 win in the first set but dropped the second 6-7. He then dominated the tiebreaker with a 10-2 victory for the point.
 
The Islanders closed out the match with a victory on court four.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action next Sunday when they head to Dallas to face the No. 46 SMU Mustangs.
