DALLAS – Freshman Yehonatan Kaufman recorded a singles victory as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team fell 1-6 against the No. 49 Southern Methodist University Mustangs on Sunday at the SMU Tennis Center.
 
Kaufman posted the lone point for the Vaqueros (2-2) after defeating Charles Nettlefold on court four. Kaufman took the first set 6-3 and then followed with a 7-5 win in the second set as he improves to 3-1 in singles on the season.
 
The Mustangs (3-2) swept through doubles to take the early advantage. They then won five straight in singles to clinch the match as they won on courts five, three, two, six and one.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Friday, February 5, when they head to College Station for a doubleheader against No. 4 Texas A&M and Prairie View A&M.
