UTRGV got off to a strong start in the second set as well, scoring the first three points while building a 15-6 lead thanks in part to a trio of Watson kills. CSU Bakersfield scored eight of the next 12 points to pull within 14-19, but after a timeout, a kill by sophomore
Dubravka Vukoja and a pair of Silva aces helped UTRGV go on a 6-1 run end the set.
CSU Bakersfield jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third set. CSU Bakersfield extended its lead to 14-7 and then 16-8 on a Haynes kill. Then, with UTRGV down 12-19, Mitrovic came up with a kill and an ace to kick off a 10-5 run to make it 22-24, but a Haynes kill ended the set.
