SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's soccer team fell at Seattle U, which is receiving votes in the latest polls, 3-0 on Sunday at Championship Field.
UTRGV (4-8-2, 2-4-1 WAC) was outshot 15-5, including 8-3 on goal. Seniors
Alex Ochoa and
Sami Tiittanen, and freshman
Damian Roszczyk, each attempted a shot on goal.
Freshman
Esa Aalto (3-4-1) made five saves.
Seattle U (10-4-2, 6-0-2 WAC) scored the game-winner at 13:58 when
Alex Roldan fired right off a pass to the center of the box by
Kyle Bjornethun.
Tyler John scored on an eight-yard chip shot off passes from
Sergio Rivas and
Julian Avila-Good at 38:15.
Then, at 76:13,
Shane Mahvi deposited a
Jeff Rose corner kick into the back of the net.
Jordan Hadden (6-0-2) made two saves over the first 80 minutes while
RJ Noll made one save over the final 10.
UTRGV opens up its final home stand on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Incarnate Word at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex. There will be a free Trunk-or-Treat for children from 5-8 p.m. The events includes candy, games and activities at nearly 20 different trunk sites. Valley Metro will host a Haunted Bus. All participants arriving before 6:30 p.m. will receive complimentary admission to the match.
