Game NotesEDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's basketball team (15-12, 7-5 WAC) hosts the Chicago State University Cougars (4-22, 2-10 WAC) for senior day on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
There will be a special pregame ceremony honoring the careers of
Jada Bennett and
Rickell Preston.
The Vaqueros are also looking to "Jam the Gym for Juliette" in order to raise money for
Juliette Castellanos, a 16-year old cheerleader and power lifter from Edcouch-Elsa High School who suffered two broken legs in a hit-and-run last June. Bert Ogden Infiniti and an anonymous donor will each contribute one dollar per ticket sold. Should the game be a sell out, UTRGV Athletics and its sponsors will raise about $5,000 for Castellanos.
Doors open at 6.
The game will be televised live throughout the state of Texas on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel Alternate (825).
Jonah Goldberg handles the play-by-play announcer while
Tony Forina serves as the color commentator.
