EDINBURG – For the second straight game the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team recorded 14 hits as they completed the sweep of the Arlington Baptist College Patriots with 13-0 win in a game that ended in the seventh inning due to the 10-run mercy rule on Sunday at the UTRGV Baseball Stadium. 
The Vaqueros (7-8) got on the board quickly as juniors 
Joseph Collazo, 
Victory Garcia Jr. and 
Jose Garcia each singled to start the bottom of the first. Garcia's single allowed Collazo to score making it 1-0. 
UTRGV had themselves a big inning in the bottom of the second as they sent nine batters to the plate and scored five run on five hits. Senior 
Scott Mercer started the inning off with a single and then cruised around to score on junior 
Austin Oakes' RBI triple. Freshman 
Caden Rosholt then drove in Oakes with a sacrifice fly. 
Later in the bottom of the second inning, Collazo single and then moved to second after a fielding error but then came in to score on an RBI single by senior 
Cole Loncar. Junior 
Jacob Huckabay followed with a two-run single that scored Garcia Jr. and Loncar, which made it 6-0 in favor of the Vaqueros. 
That was all UTRGV starter sophomore 
Ryan Jackson (1-3) needed as he pitched six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out two for his first win of the season. 
In the bottom of the fourth, Loncar drove in Garcia with an RBI single and then Huckabay, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, hit an RBI double scoring Loncar which made it 8-0. 
The Vaqueros added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth with another sacrifice fly from Rosholt and a fielding error that pushed their lead to 10-0. 
In the bottom of the sixth, Mercer delivered a two-run triple that scored Huckabay and freshman 
Mike Garza. Oakes answered with an RBI double that scored Mercer from third to put a cap on the scoring. 
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders for a doubleheader at the UTRGV Baseball Stadium with the first game starting at 2 p.m. The game can be viewed on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel 323 throughout Texas.
