Men's Tennis Continues Spring Break Trip at New Orleans Tuesday

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team will play the third match of their spring break trip as they face off against the University of New Orleans on Tuesday at the University of Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Vaqueros (8-8) defeated the Nicholls State Colonels 4-2 on Monday at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
 
The Vaqueros came away with the doubles point as they won on courts one and three.
 
In singles, Juan Cruz Soria, Koby Jansen and Cosme Jubera each won their singles match to help clinch the win over Nicholls State. Jubera's match on court six was the deciding match.
 
Scouting the Privateers
The Privateers are 3-4 on the season and are coming off of a 1-6 loss to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday.
 
New Orleans has recorded wins over Loyola, Jackson State and Alcorn State.
 
Gonzalo Garcia and Luis Albuquerque lead the Privateers with four singles victories. Garcia has mainly played in the No. 4 spot while Albuquerque has mainly played at the No. 6 spot.
 
Garcia and Albuquerque also lead the Privateers in doubles. Garcia has teamed with Nicolas Kramer to post a 3-3 record with all three wins coming at the No. 3 spot. Albuquerque has partnered with Jeffrey Hsu to post a 3-2 record at the No. 1 spot.
 
The All-Time Series
The Vaqueros are 5-8 all-time against New Orleans in a series that dates back to 1982.
 
The last time these two teams met was in the spring of 2014 as the Privateers came away with the 4-3 win in New Orleans.
 
The last time the Vaqueros defeated the Privateers came in the spring of 2009.
 
Globetrotters
The Vaqueros currently have eight student-athletes on the roster representing six different countries, including the Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Australia, Spain, Israel and Argentina.
 
Next Up
The Vaqueros will be back on action on Thursday when they face Lipscomb University in New Orleans at 2 p.m.
