CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team opened the 50^th Annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions with a 0-4 loss to Louisiana at Lafayette on Friday at the H-E-B Tennis Courts.
 
The Vaqueros (6-6) fell behind early as the Ragin' Cajuns (8-6) clinched the doubles point with wins on court one and three. The Vaqueros' team of Elliot Johnstone and Andres Hernandez were up 5-4 against Coleman Wahlborg and Jake Wynan on court two but the match went unfinished once the doubles point was clinched.
 
In singles, the Ragin' Cajuns went on to win their matches on courts two, three and six to clinch the match. The Vaqueros led in the other three matches but they went unfinished one the match was clinched.
 
Juan Cruz Soria was up on Edgar Lopez on court one 7-6, 3-1 when it was stopped while Koby Jansen led Will Huyton 7-6, 4-3 on court four and Johnstone was tied with Eric Perez 6-3, 3-6, 3-3 on court five.
 
The Vaqueros will next face the UTSA Roadrunners at 4:30 p.m. at the H-E-B Tennis Courts.
