EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team (17-16, 6-3 WAC) opens up a three-game series against the Sacramento State Hornets (22-14, 10-2 WAC), who are tied for first place, on Friday at 7 p.m. at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

There will be an Earth Day celebration featuring a "Trashion Show" with the Environmental Awareness Club. There will be an "eco friendly runway" on which registered contestants will showcase clothing designed of at least 90 percent recyclable materials. The top three contestants as chosen by the judges as well as the top contestant as chosen by the fans will receive prizes. The first 150 fans in attendance will receive a reusable lime green UTRGV recycling bag. Additionally, fans that bring five empty and clean plastic bottles for recycling will receive discounted general admissions tickets at a rate of $5 for adults and $3 for children. Current UTRGV students, who get in free, will receive free popcorn.

The game will be televised live throughout the state on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, channel 323. Danny Elizondo fills in on the play-by-play while Tony Forina serves as the color commentator.
