EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer team recorded its program record fourth-straight shutout to beat the University of St. Thomas (UST) 1-0 on Friday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex
UTRGV (4-1-1) has now held its opponents off the board for 380 consecutive minutes, breaking the program record of 327:20 set last September.

Maria Eriksen (1-0-0) each played a scoreless half in goal. Gonzalez made one save. Eriksen was not credited with a save, but made multiple strong defensive plays in the box to prevent goals, including a sliding grab of a ball to prevent an uncontested shot opportunity.

Andreya Barrera scored her third goal of the season for the game-winner on a lob over
Emma Pinkerton (2-2-0) after junior
Frida Farstad-Eriksson stole the ball off a header and passed it ahead.
UTRGV outshot UST (2-2-0) 12-to-3, including 5-to-1 on goal. Pinkerton finished with four saves.
UTRGV is back in action on Sunday at 7 p.m. when it resumes the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Credit Union, by visiting Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC). The showdown standings are currently tied at 5-5. UTRGV beat TAMUCC 2-1 at home on Aug. 19.
