TULSA, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis team opened their weekend with a 1-6 loss to Oral Roberts University on Friday at the Philcrest Tennis Center.
Oral Roberts (3-0) took the early advantage with the doubles point after picking up wins on courts two and three. UTRGV (0-2) did win on court one as the team of junior
Elliot Johnstone and freshman Clément Sarradin defeated Jan Pehnec and Kenneth Boykin 6-4.
In singles, Oral Roberts won in straight sets on four of the six courts to clinch the match but Johnstone got UTRGV on the board with a straight set win on court one defeating Barnabas Koncz 6-2, 6-3.
UTRGV will be back at it tomorrow when they face off against No. 14 Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
