STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season falling 80-38 to Oklahoma State University on Friday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Sophomore
Brianna Pitre led UTRGV (3-1) with a career-high eight points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds. Junior
Krisynthia Sampson added six points and six rebounds while graduate student
Marie-Fatou Gueye chipped in with six points.
Kaylee Jensen paced Oklahoma State (3-0) with a double-double scoring a game-high 19 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. Loryn Goodwin added 16 points while Areanna Combs also reached double-figures with 10 points.
Oklahoma State led from the get go shooting 41 percent from the floor and forcing 24 turnovers defensively. UTRGV scored 24 points in the paint while outscoring Oklahoma State off the bench 26-23.
UTRGV will be back in action on November 21 when they return home to host Texas Lutheran at the UTRGV Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. It will be $2 Tuesday where fans can get $2 general admission tickets and most concession stand items priced at $2 or less. Doors open at 6 p.m.
