HOUSTON – In its first game action since the NCAA Tournament in December, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) volleyball team won two of its three exhibition matches at the Houston Baptist Tournament on Saturday at Sharp Gym and Glasscock Gym.
After opening the tournament with a 0-2 (23-25, 23-25) loss to 2016 Conference USA Tournament Runner Up Rice, UTRGV bounced back with a 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) win over McNeese State and a 2-0 (25-19, 25-18) victory over reigning Southland Conference Champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
UTRGV showed off strong ball control through the day, particularly in the final two matches. Part of the reason for that was strong play by freshman
Paulina Ramirez in her first action at libero.
Junior
Bojana Mitrovic, sophomore
Ragni Steen Knudsen and sophomore
Alexandra Ecker all played well offensively.
UTRGV is back in action on April 1 at the Texas State Tournament.
