Men’s Tennis Returns Home to Host Louisiana Lafayette Tuesday

EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis team returns home after five straight road matches to host Louisiana Lafayette on Tuesday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
 
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
 
Last Time Out
UTRGV (2-9) fell 1-4 at the hands of the University of the Incarnate Word on Saturday.
 
In their lone match of the weekend, Koby Jansen and Mateo Schmit beat Sebastien Mortier and Caleb Dyer 6-2 but it was Incarnate Word who came away with the doubles point with wins on courts one and two.
 
Yehonatan Kaufman got UTRGV on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Joey Vatanadilok on court three for his first win of the season but Incarnate Word picked up singles victories on courts one, four and six to clinch the win.
   
Scouting Louisiana Lafayette
Louisiana Lafayette is 9-4 on the season with 10 of their 13 matches being played at home. They are 0-1 on the road and 1-1 in neutral site matches.
 
They are coming off of a 1-4 loss at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at home.
 
Arthur Libaud leads Louisiana Lafayette with an 8-3 record in singles play during dual competition. He has played at the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots this year. Eric Perez is 6-3 while playing at the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots.
 
As a team, Louisiana Lafayette is 37-20 in singles play and in doubles they are 23-9.
 
Libaud has teamed with Jamie Fraser to post a 9-1 record in the spring while playing at the No. 2 and 3 spots. The duo has won nine in a row.
 
Pearse Dolan and Vlad Karmarov have teamed to post a 5-4 record while Perez has teamed with Coleman Wahlborg to also post a 5-4 record.
 
The All-Time Series
UTRGV is 0-9 all-time against Louisiana Lafayette in a series that dates back to 2001.
 
These two teams met last season and it was Louisiana Lafayette who came away with the 4-0 victory on March 3, 2016. It was a part of the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, which both will compete in starting on March 3.
