EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's basketball team dropped its regular season finale to Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Champion New Mexico State 64-46 on Saturday at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

Shawnte' Goff led UTRGV (18-12, 8-6 WAC) with 14 points and six rebounds. Freshman
Megan Johnson scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Moriah Mack led NM State (22-6, 14-0 WAC) with 14 points.
Gia Pack scored 12 points while hitting a trio of three-pointers.
Brooke Salas posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
NM State hit its first four baskets to jump out to an 8-2 lead.
NM State still led by six at 13-7 when Goff scored eight points to power a 10-4 run to tie the game at 17 early in the second quarter.
NM State scored the next seven points, going up 24-17 on a Mack three, but UTRGV responded by scoring seven points of its own as part of a 10-2 run, capped by a three by sophomore
Idil Türk, that gave UTRGV its lone lead at 27-26 with 2:20 remaining in the quarter.
After a Salas three gave NM State the lead, Johnson made a layup to tie the game at 29.
NM State, however, scored five of the last six points of the second and the first 17 points of the third to pull away.
Fourth-seeded UTRGV opens up the WAC Tournament with a quarterfinals matchup against fifth-seeded UMKC on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
