SEATTLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis team won their third straight match after defeating Chicago State University 6-1 in a neutral site match on Friday at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.
Chicago State (6-12, 0-3 WAC) picked up a win in doubles on court two but UTRGV (5-18, 2-1 WAC) answered with a pair of victories to clinch the point. Yehontan Kaufman and
Mateo Schmit teamed up to beat Jiri Nouza and Felix Savard 7-6 on court one and then it was
Koby Jansen and Clement Sarradin defeating Rohan Wattley and Cody Wurzelbacher 6-3 on court three.
In singles, Chicago State got their lone point of the match with a win on court two but UTRGV dropped just one set in the other five matches to seal the win. Jansen defeated Nouza 6-2, 6-1 on court one and it was
Elliot Johnstone picking up the 6-1, 6-1 win over Gonzalo Martinez on court three.
Sarradin added to the scoreboard with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Rohan Wattley on court four while
Andres Hernandez picked up his first win of the season with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 win over Gonzalez on court five. Schmit didn't drop a game on court six as he beat Wurzelbacher 6-0, 6-0 on court six.
UTRGV will be back at it tomorrow when they face off against Grand Canyon at 6 p.m.
