EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's soccer team had their three-match win streak snapped after falling 2-0 to San Diego State University on Friday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
San Diego State (3-4) grabbed the early lead as Jeroen Meefout got the pass from Chris Scatterday and then drove to the top of the box before putting it in the right corner of the goal 15:47 into the game.
UTRGV (3-2-1) put some pressure on San Diego State in the first half but weren't able to convert on their five shots in the half.
Meefout added his second goal of the game as he took the pass from Dallin Cutler and then took the shot from the top of the box finding the right corner of the goal at the 46:01 martk to put San Diego State up 2-0.
UTRGV outshot San Diego State 14-7 with two of the shots on goal as Adam Allmaras (2-4) had two saves on the night.
UTRGV will be back in action on September 29 when they travel Kansas City, Missouri to face UMKC in their WAC opener.
