EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's basketball team (10-9, 2-1 WAC) plays its WAC home opener against Utah Valley (14-5, 3-0 WAC) on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
It's Back to School Night. The fun begins with a tailgate hosted by The Herd and various student organizations at 6 p.m. outside the Fieldhouse. There will be free hot chocolate and pan dulce while supplies last.
The first 200 UTRGV students to visit the tailgate will receive vouchers redeemable for a free stadium cup by the student entrance at 6:45 p.m.
Additionally, there will be a watch party at Casa Bella in Brownsville at 7 p.m. at which students can also enjoy hot chocolate and pan dulce while supplies last. The first 200 UTRGV students in attendance will receive a free stadium cup at halftime.
There will be raffle drawings throughout the game in which students will have the chance to win back-to-school essentials.
UTRGV faculty and staff will receive $5 general admission and complimentary popcorn.
Faculty and staff can drop their business cards in the fishbowl outside the main entrance for the chance to win a gift certificate to Bluewave Car Wash as well as UTRGV office essentials.
All UTRGV residence halls are invited to participate in the Third Annual Attendance Challenge to see which dorm has the largest turnout and the most pride.
Doors open at 6.
