Men's Tennis Continues Homestand Against UTSA Sunday

EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team continues its home stand as they host the University of Texas at San Antonio Sunday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
 
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
 
Last Time Out
UTRGV (2-2) picked up its second win of the season after defeating Prairie View A&M 5-1 last Sunday.
 
No doubles were played but UTRGV was able to take advantage in singles play.
 
Dennis Boisseau got things rolling with a win on court two before Zane Kohrs followed with a win on court four.
 
Elliot Johnstone put UTRGV up 3-0 with a win on court three before Clement Sarradin clinched the win with a win on court six. Koby Jansen made it 5-0 for UTRGV with the lone point for Prairie View A&M came on court five.
 
Scouting UTSA
UTSA is 1-4 on the season and is coming off of a 3-4 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. Their only win came last weekend against Belmont where they defeated them 4-3 in a neutral site match.
 
UTSA has also faced No. 24 Texas Tech, No. 8 Texas and Middle Tennessee, all of which were losses.
 
Kai Breitbach leads UTSA with a 4-1 record in singles play so far this season, while playing almost all his matches at the No. 3 spot.
 
Javier Gonzalez and Juri Reckow have posted records of 2-3 thus far.
 
UTSA has yet to win a doubles match this season posting a record of 0-10.
 
The All-Time Series
UTRGV is 23-31 against UTSA all-time in series that dates back to 1982.
 
Both teams met up last season a couple of times where UTSA won both matches. The first match came back in San Antonio where UTSA won 6-1 and the second match came in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions winning 4-2.
 
Globetrotters
UTRGV currently has nine student-athletes on the roster representing five different countries, including the France (Dennis Boisseau, Clément Sarradin), United States (Jake Davidson, Zane Kohrs, Michael Loyd), Australia (Koby Jansen, Elliot Johnstone), Israel (Yehonatan Kaufman), and Argentina (Mateo Schmit).

UTRGV will wrap its three-match home stand against when they host the University of the Incarnate Word at the Orville Cox Tennis Center on February 10 at 10 a.m.
