CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team fell 1-4 to Troy University in its second match of the day on Friday at the H-E-B Tennis Center.
Play started with singles as UTRGV (4-7) got the first lead of the day after a win on court four. Senior
Elliot Johnstone recorded the lone point for UTRGV after he defeated Mustapha Belcora in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. It was Johnstone's second win of the day and seventh of the season.
Troy (3-6) picked up victories on courts one, three, five, and six to clinch the victory.
Sophomore Dennis Boisseau deopped his first set to Pelayo Antuña 5-7 but rallied in the second with a 6-4 win. With the match clinched, the third set was stopped while Boisseau led 3-1.
UTRGV will close out the H-E-B Tournament of Champions against Louisiana on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the H-E-B Tennis Center.
