LOGAN, Utah – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) volleyball team fell to No. 24 Cal Poly 0-3 (22-25, 11-25, 20-25) during the second match of the Utah State Tournament on Friday at Kirby Court at the Wayne Estes Center.
Junior
Barbara Silvaled UTRGV (4-2) with 12 kills, four digs and two blocks. Senior
Dubravka Vukojadished out 25 assists. Junior
Talita Oliveira recorded a team-high three blocks.
Adlee Van Windenled Cal Poly (4-1) with nine kills and 10 digs.
Torrey Van Windenrecorded nine kills on .438 hitting.
Nikki Jacksonfinished with nine kills on .304 hitting.
UTRGV led by as much as three in the first set, going up 13-10 on a block by senior
Alexandra Eckerand 20-16 on a kill by junior McAllen Memorial alum
Draik Banks. Cal Poly responded by scoring the next five points to take the lead. A Silva kill tied the set at 21, but a pair of Adlee Van Winden kills allowed Cal Poly to pull away to take a 1-0 lead.

Ragni Steen Knudsenhelped UTRGV embark on a 5-2 run to pull within four before a service error ended the match.
UTRGV completes the Utah State Tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Loyola Marymount.
