PRAIRIE VIEW – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team closed out the day with a 4-0 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday Prairie View Tennis Courts.
 
UTRGV (2-2), who played No. 9 Texas A&M earlier this afternoon, took command of the match as it took the doubles point. Senior Yehonatan Kaufman and freshman George Hutchings picked up the 6-2 win on court one over Xavier Lawrence and Jorge Juarez.
 
The match on court two was stopped when freshmen Samuel de Felipe Garcia and Georgije Babic defeated Taqel Lewis and Zachary Suico 6-1 on court three.
 
In singles, de Felipe Garcia picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win over Rodrigo Yoshikata on court two. Babic followed with his first collegiate victory after defeating Suico 6-4, 6-2 on court four.
 
Hutchings also picked up a win for UTRGV on court five as he defeated Lewis 6-1, 6-3. The singles matches on courts one, three and six went unfinished when the win was clinched.
 
UTRGV will be back in action on Sunday when they face Rice at 12 p.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
