RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros volleyball team's three-match winning streak came to an end with a 0-3 (23-25, 14-25, 19-25) loss to the New Mexico State University Aggies on Saturday at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

JuniorÂ
Veronika Jandovaled the Vaqueros (13-13, 7-5 WAC) with six kills on .500 hitting and three blocks. SophomoreÂ
Sarah Cruzrecorded five kills with three digs and two aces.

Savannah Davison led the Aggies (21-3, 12-0 WAC) with 10 kills and three blocks.Â
Megan Hart had nine kills on .643 hitting.

The Vaqueros had the lead for most of the first set, going up 6-2 early thanks in-part to a pair of Cruz kills and back-to-back aces by juniorÂ
Samaret Caraballo. The Aggies scored the next four points to tie the set before a Cruz killed helped the Vaqueros go up 9-6. The Vaqueros pushed their lead back to four twice more, including at 14-10 on a kill by freshmanÂ
Victoire Nama. The Vaqueros still led at 23-21 on an error, but the Aggies scored the final four points to take the set.

After taking the second set, the Aggies jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the third set. The Vaqueros got close, pulling within 6-8 and 17-18 on Cruz aces. The Vaqueros were then within 19-20 on an ace by juniorÂ
Paulina Ramirez, but that's as close as they got.

UTRGV embarks on its final regular season road trip starting with Grand Canyon on Thursday at 8 p.m.
