RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell to the New Mexico State University Aggies 3-1 to close out the regular season on Saturday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
UTRGV (9-7-2, 3-4-1 WAC) enters the WAC Tournaments as either the No. 4 or 5 seed and will face either CSU Bakersfield or Grand Canyon in the WAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Championship Field in Seattle, Wash.

Emily Zapata in the box for the Vaqueros' lone goal, tying the score at 1. Zapata now has a team-high seven goals this season.
The Aggies (4-12-2, 3-5-0) struck in the ninth minute, taking the lead on a
Corey Kizer goal off an assist by
Emma Smith.
Kizer added a goal in the 73
rd minute on an assist by
Hannah Leitner.
The Aggies scored the game-winning goal in the 58
th minute when
Jody Hernandez found
Jess McDow for the strike.
Senior
Kinga Szemik (8-7-2) finished with five saves.
Dmitri Fong (4-11-3) also made five saves.
The Vaqueros outshot the Aggies 16-11, but were outshot on goal, 8-6. The Vaqueros had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
