EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley baseball team opens the 2019 season with a 12-game home stand starting with three games against No. 16 Oklahoma State Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and Sunday at 12 at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
Friday's game kicks off homecoming weekend. There will be an alumni mixer for UTRGV and legacy alumni starting at 6:30 p.m. at which appetizers, refreshments, and a special alumni gift will be provided. Alumni must RSVP for the mixer by calling (956) 665-2500 or sending an email to
advancementevents@utrgv.edu.
Friday also features the Raising Cane's Challenge.
After every Friday home victory, fans can take home a buy one, get one free Raising Cane's box combo coupon.
Gates open at 6.
Saturday's game is in the midst of an action filled day, with a homecoming tailgate in the UTRGV Fieldhouse parking lot following the game. Gates open at 1.
Sunday's game is the first Strike Out Hunger game of the season. Fans donating five non-perishable food items at every Sunday home game receive free general admission. Donations support the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.
