EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team is set to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at 12 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center. 
 
Last Time Out

• UTRGV fell 1-6 to both UTSA and Incarnate Word back on March 2 and 3 in San Antonio.
• Mateo Schmit picked up the lone point vs. UTSA after defeating Javier Gonzalez 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 on court five.
• Zane Kohrs got the lone point against Incarnate Word after defeating Dennis Boisseau 6-4, 4-6, 10-1 on court four.

 
All-Time Series

• UTRGV is 13-43-1 against Corpus Christi.
• UTRGV faced off earlier this season and it was Corpus Christi coming away with the 6-1 victory.
• UTRGV last defeated Corpus Christi on March 10, 2010 in Corpus Christi.

 
South Texas Showdown, Presented Navy Army Community Credit Union Standings

• UTRGV currently leads 23.5 points to 18.5 points.
• Corpus Christi picked up the last three points after finishing ahead of UTRGV women's golf at the UTRGV Invitational.
• UTRGV will host the first baseball game of the showdown on Tuesday. 
• If UTRGV can win the baseball game, UTRGV can clinch the showdown victory with a pair of victories at tennis.
• The next showdown event will be on March 19 when Corpus Christi hosts a baseball game.

 
Scouting Corpus Christi

• Corpus Christi is 12-5 on the season
• Corpus Christi is coming off of a 2-4 loss to UTSA back on Feb. 27 at home.
• The Islanders are 59-22 in singles play with Thibault Frumholz and Carlos Pedrosa leading the way with 10 singles victories while three others have posted nine victories.
• In doubles, Corpus Christi is 22-15 with William Mottet and Thomas Rodrigues lead the team with a 9-3 record. They have used nine different doubles teams this season.
