AVCA Story | Get Season Tickets

EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics learned on Monday that the volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award by posting a 3.38 grade point average (GPA) during the 2018-19 academic year.
 
The award honors men's and women's collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the academic year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale.
 
UTRGV was one of 189 NCAA Division I women's indoor programs, including seven in the Western Athletic Conference, four in the UT system, and 13 in Texas, to earn the honor. In total, 1,125 programs were recognized at all levels nationwide.
