RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Sunday that the women's basketball game at Kansas, previously scheduled for Dec. 14, will not be played due to a positive COVID-19 test of Tier 1 personnel within the Kansas women's basketball program.
 
The game will not be rescheduled. UTRGV is not currently looking to add another game to its schedule. 
 
UTRGV will host the South Padre Island Classic, a four-game tournament featuring UTRGV, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, and UT Arlington, Friday and Saturday at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. 
 
UTRGV will face Prairie View A&M at 7 p.m. on Friday and then close out the SPI Classic against UT Arlington on Saturday at 4. Single-game tickets will not be sold for the classic, but fans can watch all four games for free online at WACDigitalNetwork.com.
